The world has been taken over by bloggers! We love blogs and one that we keep bookmarked is our fave blogger, fashionista Lucy Laucht. Here's a bit more about Lucy, the tech savvy fashionista behind and in-front of the lens.
Why did you start your blog?
I was keeping everything hoarded in an old scrap book and instead decided to create an online platform to showcase my inspiration and observations.
We love your sense of style! Where do you get your inspiration from?
Thanks! Travel often influences my look and a year spent backpacking around the world turned into one massive shopping tour. Both Buenos Aires and Rio were hugely inspiring. Street style websites like Streetpeeper are great because they feature real people which is often more attainable than the editorial styling in magazines.
What fashion sites or blogs do you visit regularly?
I can while away hours looking at blogs and fashion sites. My favourites are Late Afternoon, The Satorialist and Garance Dore and fashion sites such as Refinery 29 and style.com.
There are many bloggers who don't reveal themselves in their blogs. We love that you have the confidence to get infront of the camera and style yourself. Why do you think this is so important?
One of the biggest difficulties to overcome when you start blogging is letting your personality come through in images and copy writing. Sometimes when i post photographs I think, wow, this is kind of self absorbed! But doing so inspires me, and at the end of the day, that's what blogging is all about.
You have been living in Australia for the past couple of years now. What do you love about Australian fashion?
There's a huge difference between style in Australia and London. I love how put together people are here and I find it similar to New York style. The weather definitly opens up a wealth of opprunities for outfits and I've definitly worn more colour and less black than when i lived in the UK!
New York is one of the most fashionable cities in the world! Tell us about your decision to move there and what you will be doing?
My boyfriend and I visited New York last year and it was like a light bulb being switched on - I knew I had to be there. I'm starting an internship with Harrison & Shriftman in June and hoping to find a job in fashion after that. I hope my blog will serve as an honest account of my experiences, including the highs and the lows - stay tuned!
Can you share some tips for anyone wanting to start there own blog?
I attaended a conference by New York fashion website Refinery 29 and the most succinct piece of information i learnt was to blog in the mind frame of a publisher. Practice your writing style and only publish good quality photographs - an SLR camera helps! Nicely written and well curated blogs are the most successful - but it takes practice.
Finally, what's on your shopping list this Winter?
I've had to banish myself from shopping with the impending NYC move, but i wouldn't mind a nice leather jacket - there's no such thing as having too many jackets.
